Charles William Neff was born August 2nd, 1873 to Myron and Anna Neff. He was born in Mount Vernon and attended Cornell College and was then trained as a mortician in St. Louis. In 1900 he joined his parents in their furniture and funerary services business. Bill continued to run the business until his retirement in 1953. He and his wife Nellie were known for their hospitality towards Cornell students, who they boarded. Nellie and Bill had four children: Alta, Dorothy, Helen, and Myron. Bill died November 16th, 1958.
