One of the most fascinating preservations stories we've encountered this year is that of the Hutchinson House. Located on South Carolina's Edisto Island, the Hutchinson House is an architectural legacy to the hard work and triumph of Black freedpeople after the Civil War. Nina Simone's legacy is one of music and activism, and now her childhood home - a three-room clapboard house in Tryon, NC - has been saved.
