One of the most fascinating preservations stories we've encountered this year is that of the Hutchinson House. Located on South Carolina's Edisto Island, the Hutchinson House is an architectural legacy to the hard work and triumph of Black freedpeople after the Civil War. Built by hand by Henry Hutchinson, the Hutchinson House weathered years of environmental struggles, sheltered generations of family members, and is now in the process of being restored to it's original glory.
